There are several types of book-binding the MCAD Service Bureau can help you with.
YES! The Service Bureau has a Datacolor Spyder5Pro calibrator you can check out! Stop by the SB and check out the Spyder, then follow these instructions.
Inexpensive color printing can be done through the Service Bureau or Library using one of the color laser printers.
For printing on nicer paper, custom paper, and press quality prints, use the full-service ImagePress Color printer in the Service Bureau:
The Océ Plotwave large format Black and White laser printer has a maximum output width of 36" and maximum length of 12'. Files are printed on plain white, green, blue, yellow, or pink Bond paper or frosted vellum Film.
Begin by opening the file you want to print.
Choose File > Print and the Print dialog box will open.
If you just need simple letter-sized (8.5x11") prints, you can choose from several public BW printers around campus:
To add or select a printer to print to:
- Begin by opening the file you want to print. Choose File > Page Setup.
- Under Paper Size, drop down and change the setting from US Letter to Tabloid (or Ledger). Click OK.
- Choose File > Print.
The Service Bureau ImagePress laser printer is perfect for printing on Transparency, Film or Vellum media. Transparency and Xante film can be purchased in the Service Bureau.
(If you received your computer from MCAD or recently had it re-imaged by the Help Desk, all MCAD public printers should already be set up.)
Student accounts are credited $10 every year on August 1st, which equals 250 Letter-sized BW prints (single-sided) or about 37 Letter-sized ImagePress Color prints. Your mileage will vary depending on how you choose to use your allotment.
So you've got an InDesign document that you'd like to print out and bind like a magazine or booklet. You can print booklets to any of our on campus color or BW laser printers easily!
You can send documents to the SB-Canon-Copier for high volume printing/copying and for advanced finishing options like folding, stapling and collating!
Printing from your phone, tablet, or other mobile device is super simple with PaperCut's built-in Mobility Print service.
First, make sure your mobile device is using the MCAD secure wireless network. (Mobility Print will not work via cell carrier signal.)
If you followed all posted (or verbal) instructions and your prints still didn't come out right, there was a mechanical problem with the printer, or the toner was low, you can log into your print account and request a refund.
Occasionally when you print something from the internet (like driving directions or an image) to the SB-BW printers, the printer will display an error. This is a Postscript error, meaning the printer doesn't understand the information it has been sent.
If you think your office is in need of a new printer, copier, scanner or multifunction device
Please see our paper sample book in the Service Bureau to see and feel each paper type (with print samples)!
The MFA Studios has options for both Black-and-White and Color Printing.

Faculty and staff printing accounts are associated with a shared department account by default. Your department head will receive a monthly report of all public printing charges.
You can have your designs or type cut out of paper or adhesive-backed vinyl. Paper cutting is $3 per linear foot (not including the cost of any prints) and Vinyl cutting is $5 per linear foot.
Web Print is a feature in PaperCut that will allow a user to print from any device via a web browser. This means you don't have to worry about having your computer set up with your official MCAD short username (i.e., "gforman") or be running the PC Client app.
