This is an announcement that Google has changed the layout of Gmail's web interface. Users that have not already opted in to the new Gmail interface manually will see this change begin to roll out automatically to their Gmail accounts starting on September 18th. Here is a brief rundown from Google about the new features in this Gmail interface:
Users that do not prefer the new look and feel of Gmail will have the option of switching back to the old layout for a limited time, but beginning on October 16th Google will start to disable the old Gmail web interface permanently. Here is a link to a Google blog article detailing their timeline of the rollout:
Please note that this change should only affect users of the Gmail website. Gmail Android and iPhone apps have their own timeframes for feature rollouts, and anybody using Thunderbird or other local mail clients should not notice any differences.
If you have any questions about this change, please feel free to contact the MCAD Help Desk by email at firstname.lastname@example.org, by phone at 612-874-3666, or stopping by the office in room 319 of the main building during normal office hours. Thanks!
